A photo showing youth lining-up at the entrance to the Russian embassy in Addis Ababa, is circulating on social media claiming many Ethiopians are waiting in line to register for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The embassy responded: “Russia has not advertised to recruit Ethiopians for the war in Ukraine and the information being spread on social media is false.”
“The Ethiopians did not go to the Russian embassy for recruitment, but to show their solidarity with Russia,” the embassy told Al Ain.
This is the 54th day that Russia and Ukraine have officially declared war on Ukraine.
So far, about five million Ukrainians have fled to neighboring countries, and many more have died.
Russia claims to have killed more than 23,000 Ukrainian soldiers, while Ukraine claims to have killed 20,000 Russian soldiers.
