When he first arrived to Ethiopia following the call from the reformist Prime Minister Abey Ahmed in May 2018, he told journalists at the airport that changing the constitution is a danger to the country. He also said forming a transitional government is unthinkable.
Berhanu and his party Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA) decided to help the reform leader Abey Ahmed unconditionally.
