Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has landed a new job with Ethiopian Premier League giants Saint George Sports Club.
Middendorp and Chiefs parted ways at the end of last season after a memorable campaign ended in heartbreak on the final day of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season as Mamelodi Sundowns pipped them to the title.
After a ninth-place finish, second spot was seen as progression for Amakhosi but the manner in which they capitulated, added to the availability of four-time league winner Gavin Hunt, prompted the Soweto giants to opt for a managerial change.
The German has not been short of suitors since departing Naturena with a host of clubs recently enquiring over his services but KickOff.com understands he’s now agreed a three-year contract to join the 29-time league winners.
The former club of Milutin Sredojević and Denis Onyango will miss out on the 2020/21 CAF Champions League after the coronavirus pandemic forced last season to be declared null and void.
Many congratulations to experienced coach Ernst Middendorp who has joined Ethiopian Premier League giants Saint George Sports Club. @basesoccer #SSG "Leaders of African Football" pic.twitter.com/LJp3Aw3s7C
