Residents in areas under the control of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) in the western Guji zone of Oromia state say they are facing severe abuses.
According to residents, OLA militants, who have been branded terrorists by the Ethiopian government, are taking control of many areas, DW Amharic reports.
The militants took control of most of the area, and residents could not even move from one kebele to another. Residents said they were not sure whether the Oromia regional government and the federal government were aware of the abuses.
Gelana Woreda Administrator Mortata Sero, however, acknowledged that the militants had taken control of several kebeles in the woreda. He said the problem was beyond the control of the local security forces and they had applied to the government structure at all levels.
